Explore Luang Prabang by E-bike
At 09:00
this morning, your guide will pick you up at your hotel in Luang Prabang for a short transfer by tuk tuk to our electric powered bike station.

After a short briefing to explain you the use of your new vehicle, it will be time to start your discovery of our “responsible Luang Prabang”… in a quiet way! These electric bikes are an emissions-free mode of transportation and allow the user to either pedal the bike by their own power or to coast along using the bike’s battery-powered, rechargeable motor.

From our station, we will cycle along the Mekong River and commence our visit of the town. You will enjoy riding along the noiseless streets of the peninsula with your electrical bike and past the lively fresh market (working hours may vary day by day)… a perfect way to immerse yourself in the rhythm of the town! Along your way, you will visit some of the less visited temples located behind Mount Phousi. These temples will give you a glance in to the beauty of the town and its rich cultural legacy, found on every corner of the city.

Continue your ride to the Traditional Art & Ethnology Center. The Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre is dedicated to exploring the rich diversity of Laos’ ethnic minorities. Traditional costumes, tools, and artifacts are on display alongside in-depth descriptions and written histories. It is a great opportunity to gain insight in to the Lao people (note: closed on Monday).

Before ending your morning exploration, our bikes will take us for a taste of traditional Lao cuisine at Tamarind. Run by an Australian woman and her Lao husband, they have created a fresh menu of Lao dishes and are dedicated to promoting a greater understanding of the local cuisine. Enjoy a traditional pun pa lunch, a traditional meal served at celebrations or special occasions. Sit down to a whole fish, marinated in local herbs, stuffed with lemongrass and barbecued in banana leaves. The fish is served with fresh vegetables, herbs, noodles and sauces. We’ll demonstrate the Lao custom of wrapping the fresh ingredients into a leafy parcel and eating with your fingers. Dessert is local purple sticky rice, served in coconut milk with a signature tangy tamarind sauce. As you order, the friendly staff will explain the ingredients and customs of the cuisine.

After your delicious lunch, it will be time to take your bike to the Elephant Asia Show, an outdoor museum focused on elephant preservation. The aim of the museum is to provide travelers with more details on elephants and related activities. Then, continue to the Phousi Market where you can join the locals and support vendors by buying fresh products or fruit. Your guide will be here to encourage you to taste some of the exotic flavors of the local fruits, helping to identify new items not found in your grocery store back home.

A short ride takes you to your final stop of the day, Ock Pop Tock. This non-profit organization seeks to preserve traditional weaving techniques, a trade which was once an important source of income for many Lao families but is slowly fading out as modern technology has evolved. We will spend some time learning about the process of silk weaving from the initial stages of creating the dyes to the final process of loom weaving.

There is an option for sunset drinks on the Mekong for an additional cost. (USD10 per person). Then, it will be time to return the bikes to the station and transfer back to your hotel. End of Luang Prabang By Electric Bike
